In 2025, the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) of Portage County continues to grow as a beacon of healing, prevention, and support for children and families navigating the trauma of abuse, violence, and exploitation. With a clear mission to protect children and promote recovery, the CAC has expanded its services in powerful and tangible ways—ensuring that no child in our community has to face trauma alone.

One of the most impactful developments this year is the introduction of free trauma therapy for all children in Portage County who have experienced abuse or other traumatic events. This expanded access removes common barriers to care and ensures that every child has the opportunity to receive compassionate, trauma-informed mental health support—regardless of their circumstances or system involvement.

The CAC is also working on another exciting initiative: the development of an Online Safety Training for both clients and caregivers, with a planned launch date of September 2025. As families navigate an increasingly digital world, this training will help equip children and adults with tools to stay safe online, recognize warning signs, and respond appropriately to digital threats. Once completed, the training will be offered virtually and in person to meet the diverse needs of those we serve.
